Burning Desires: An Afternoon of Love Poetry
Once again, poets and musicians are gathering in Old Town to celebrate the season of love in the hope that romance can melt the icy fingers of winter clutched around our hearts.
On Saturday, February 26, the Michigan Institute for Contemporary Art will present Burning Desires: An Afternoon of Love Poetry. Unlike last year’s online celebration, this year Burning Desires will be in person at Urban Beat, 1213 Turner Street, in Lansing’s historic Old Town. Doors open at 1 PM; the program is from 2 – 4 PM. For Livestream, go to MichArts.org Suggested donation: $10.
The event celebrates the many aspects of love—comic, profound, tragic, erotic, neurotic and more. It is a perfect event for lovers young and old, happy and sad, ecstatic or in despair.
Poets will include Dee Canty-Armstrong, Cheryl Caesar, Janine Certo, Suzanne Frank, Jay Artemis Hull, Wayne Jones, Zoe Johnson, Aram Kabodian, Chana Kraus-Friedberg, Mary Anna Kruch, TR Linsley, Rosalie Petrouske, Ruelaine Stokes, plus an Open Mic (sign up at the door).
